The biggest technological advancement in the 1980's was the introduction of inverter power sources. Inverters are smaller, quieter and more responsive than conventional welders. The first Miller inverter came on the market in 1988 and represented over 10 years of research and development. Work on inverter power sources continues today. In fact, many of Miller's recent product introductions are inverters.
